Hello Sean,
having a large number of polish employees, I would also be interested in safety induction videos, or any other relevant materials which would be suitable. I carry out toolbox talks also and there is a large amount of time and cost involved in getting those translated.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Many thanks

I think many of us are in the same boat at the minute, send me your email address and i will give you the details of some subtitled Safety DVD'S which are available, i didnt want to get in trouble with the moderators passing on company names :)

Andrew,
have you tried www.safetyshop.com ? It looks like this is something they do, covering basic Fire Safety, Manual Handling, Slips, Trips and Falls, Electrical Safety, PPE and COSHH. I haven't seen any of them , however there are no other suppliers on the British market as yet.
I also have been looking at some companies based in Poland, who are able to cater for h&s rules in some particular trades, as I occasionally deliver health and safety training for Polish workforce in UK myself.

Hi Andrew,
You could try Safety media. They do a vast range of H&S DVD's in various languages.

Hi Andrew
In the past I have been told by a moderator that you are allowed to supply commercial information on the forum if it is direct response to a question so I hope that is still the case. We have recently made a short induction animation 'Adam's first day' that is available in Polish. Details of the film and how to see a preview can be found on our website www.outtakes.co.uk.
Thanks Duncan

Just a quick point which no-one has picked up on, but does no one else think that polish employees working in the UK should be able to read, write and speak English? Especially from a health and safety point of view, If not you will need to consider a health and safety at work act poster in polish, all safety signs in polish, even ppe would need to be supplied with polish instructions.

It's a good point, but it's not a requirement that all migrant workers must speak English, we would be on dodgy ground only employing English speaking. It is however the employers responsibility to provide information, training & instruction in a language the employee can understand. This can be done as you say, with translated signs, SSOW, the use of in house translators and, like this thread with the help of mult-lingual DVD's etc will find that some collages are running evening English courses and it is good practice to communicate this to Polish speaking employees. Unfortunately for employers it is their responsibility to ensure workers can be effectively communicated with, as it would be with English workers who for example can't read, have hearing difficulties etc.

MACE ran English lessons every afternoon for their site employees - worked really well and a cheap, quick and effective way of ensuring both employers and employees were safe and fulfilled their duties.....
