Posted By Descarte Prior to a training session on Chemical Awareness and Hazards I will be conducting tuesday next week I am wanting to confirm for my own peace of mind that there are no hazards apart from aspiration assosiated with ingestion of Asbestos. Part of the training is going to involve unknown substances on the desks (baking powder) clean up procedures, lacrymators (an onion) and hazard specific substances (asbestos). To make this intersting and to demonstrate how certain chemicals can have different exposure routes such as some solvents through the skin or PAH's, some by inhalation or ingestion I Am to eat some Asbestos insulation board as the only exposure route would be through inhalation. After conducting my risk assessment I concluded that breathing in of dust whilst checwing and after would be a hazard so I am going to wash it down with some water. Have I missed anything? Thanks

Posted By Crim Will the board be eaten raw or cooked? If you could boil or steam the board for approx 6 mins beforehand you may find it easier to digest, however the steam produced may be a hazard in itself. It is Friday isn't it?

Posted By Merv Newman Chablis for white asbestos. But I think I'd go for something more solid with blue. Nuits St George might be a bit rich. Depends on the cement content. Goes ok with blue stilton. Merv

Posted By Dave Wilson Des its a valid point you make me old fruit as a lot of people out there think that asbestos causes disease which only affects the lung and chest cavity this as you are now aware of is not true. So you can present a professional image when discussing types of asbestos disease
