Posted By Alan E McKerns Hi,
Can anyone point me in the right direction for gaining some information on the above subject. We have an abundance to be calibrated but would like some back-up information as confirmation of our H&S requirements.
Cheers Alan

Posted By Pierre de Carteret UKAS have a website at http://www.ukas.com/I believe they're the only body in the UK that oversee the industry so look for any provider accredited against their standards etc. However, shop around as there can be massive differences in costs between service providers!

Posted By Martin C Not quite sure what you are after. Are you talking about safety regarding using uncalibrated gauges? Are you talking about safety when removing or refitting gauges? Are you talking about safety when calibrating gauges? Are you talking about safety when transporting contaminated gauges?

Posted By Alan E McKerns I'm talking about safety with regards to the need to calibrate gauges.
The gauge is there for a purpose otherwise what is the point in having one, i need to know the frequency of calibration from a legislative point, if applicable.
thanks again

Posted By SteveS Alan, The gauges may be there for many reasons. Some will no doubt be safety critical and will need calibrating, others for information only in which case they may only need a functional check. You need to sit down with someone who knows the process and can rank the gauges in order of critically. If the system is covered under the pressure system regs then your insurance inspector will be able to guide you.
