Posted By Eddie Campbell While I was researching some information for a presentation on the safe transportation of heavy equipment by road, an old colleague sent me some photographs. The photographs were taken last year, as the date stamps show, and may be of some use to others who may be researching data for a similar exercise. I have posted them here: http://freespace.virgin....ff/Transport%20Accident/for anyone who wishes to download them. To the best of my knowledge and that of my colleagues nobody was hurt or injured in the incident depicted. However they do help to illustrate what can happen when operations of this type are not fully planned out in advance.

Posted By Philip McAleenan Besides the question of planning any move of this nature, ask yourself the question, what speed was this rig travelling at in order to cut so deeply into the concrete of the bridge? And then, would planning have prevented this happening?

Posted By Eddie Campbell The photographs certainly stimulated some interest and prompted much discussion on the secureness of loads, planning of the route and driver knowledge, training and experience amongst others. General feedback from the operatives involved in this kind of transportation so far has been informative and constructive.
