Learned colleagues

I need your help.

I have been tasked with conducting a DoC on one of our waste carriers. Unfortunately I do not have any idea or template which to adapt.

The H&S side, I feel quite confident as will be basing it around 18001, it is the environment side that I am weak on.

Therefore I would be most grateful if anyone could provide ideas, questions or would be willing to send me a DoC template.

Many thanks

Daz

You will need to follow a pick up by your waste carrier and follow it to its final disposal destination as detailed on consignment notice.

You will also need to check the details on the notice are correct and note any deviation such as waste being taken to a transfer station if the notice does not state this etc.

You will also need to check the licence of your waste carrier that they are licenced to carry the categories of waste you produce.

Regards

Sorry guys, Duty of Care audit stops as soon as you've handed your waste over to an approved carrier / contractor. Check their EA / SEPA Waste Carrier's License, Waste Management License or PPC permit.

By all means go beyond this, it's what I do, but this is then an environmental management audit, not DoC.

Having worked in the waste industry it was one of the most common misunderstandings amongst clients, they would tell me they were coming in for a DoC audit and then request info which had nothing to do with DoC, but was EMS based.

Sorry if I have used the wrong term, but our waste carrier has called it a DoC. We are going to carry out an enviro audit using 14001 as a guide, I assumed that a DoC was something different.

Too all those that have responded on and off forum, many thanks for your help and assistance.

DoC actually ends when the waste is actually achieved its final point of disposal - yes I am experienced in the DoC process and understand what Darren is attempting to do ie ultimately protect the company against regulatory action.

Get hold of copies of the relevant licenses for the carriers, waste transfer stations and Waste Disposal Sites.

If they are all valid, in date and licensed to accept / carry your specific waste type then that should suffice.
