Posted By stacey I am trying to put together a document which details which situations/legislation requires safety critical medicals to be undertaken.
I have so far put together this list (off the top of my head);
Users of cranes, flt's Users of BA Lead Exposure Noise Exposure Vibration Exposure Lone Workers Night Workers Working at Heights
Do you think it would be useful to indicate the type of medical in each instance? Any help would be much appreciated. Kind Regards

Posted By Ian White I would put a note as to which medicals you want eg for an FLT driver you will be doing general fitness medical but for someone who will be working with lead you would be looking at a specific blood or urine test depending on if the lead to be handled is organic or inorganic.
The other area you may want to consider is for people working with asthmagens as a preemployment lung function test is essential and also medicals for person's returning to work after an injury / illness

Posted By 9-Ship Other than giving VERY general guidance, it is not for you to say/specify what medicals should be undertaken.
Do you have medical qualifications? If not and you get it wrong, I would have thought that you would be deemed unqualified to give medical advice and your organisation found to be liable.
Take advice/appoint a company doctor before making your decision.
Remember the managament regs - effectively say that a company must appoint one or more competent persons to give advice - which is quite likely to be different people for different areas of specialism.

Posted By garyh Agree with the above posts - go to an occupational hygiene specialist for advice, then work together on the programme. That's what I did!
