There's a job advert in SHP this month for a Food Safety Manager in Afghanistan at £24k tax free + bonus and benefits. Don't all apply at once now...

I assume "benefits" include flak jacket and tin hat. And air ticket back to Brize Norton?

How about the post that carries a salary range of £18-27k and CMIOSH is "desirable". How about the H&S Coordinator for £18.5k (to be fair no qualifications necessary!!)

When I managed a scaffold company I had scaffolders labourers on more than that!

Sadly, someone will take these roles (and roles like it); as long as this happens salaries will be depressed in our "Profession"

I took a low salary to gain entry to the H&S sector... It's hard to get that first job even with a degree and other experience!!! Read the Careers forum for countless others hunting for that first chance maybe those jobs are just what they need?

I Haven't looked back it was the best decision I ever made!

Now I'm looking for job number 2 with some great experience behind me and also the knowledge that I do the job and work hard because I love it.. Not just for the dosh!

I agree I could've earned more working in McDonalds... but where's the fun in that?

I'm not going to be sending my CV for the Food Safety Manager in Afghanistan post tho :)
