Posted By Ronan Hello folks,
Is there any possibility that an entrance for a forklift could be used as a fire exit, i refer to the kind of electric shutter doors common amongst warehouses. I know it sounds absurd but it is only for a temporary measure as the door I wish to allocate as a fire door is obstructed by a band saw.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Posted By David c Wilson Hi Ronan, What if there is no power, would the exit be suitable. Will it be easily, safely and immediately usable at all times?
You would have to mark traffic routes and a pedestrian walkway.
Would there be an external warning to stop a forklift approaching the exit when the fire alarm is sounding?

Posted By Ronan In fairness I don't think it would be feasible to use the fork lift entrance as it would invoke all of the issues you have raised above.
Looks like the band saw will just have to moved a little sooner than first thought.
Thanks David..!!

Posted By David c Wilson Hi Ronan, I think that is the best solution - vehicles & pedestrians do not mix! Best of luck.

Posted By GARRY WIZZ Was reading the fire regs yesterday and if I was in your position,
TEMP situation,
Risk Assessment , this would then allow me to conclude if it was a go or a no go.
