My company is looking to purchase a portable peristaltic pump, driven by a three phase motor. The pump will be used by the site security team (firemen) for hazardous product recovery in the event of a spillage. The portable pump unit will be ATEX approved.
Because the pump can be used anywhere on site, it is proposed to supply the drive motor from a portable generator (located in a safe, none hazardous zone). The suction and delivery pipes will be anti-static.
It is proposed that the pump unit, the generator neutral point (earth) and the generator frame will be bonded to the site system earth. The collection tanker would also be connected to the same earth system. The generator would always be located where exhaust fumes could not build up to a dangerous level.
The temporary installation will be in accordance with BS 7671 2001.

Has anyone had a similar situation?
Have I missed anything?

Thanks,
GWC

Have you thought of hydraulic drive, hydraulic powerpack, etc.? Does away with worries about electricity...

"Site System Earth" may not be a safe earth! There is invariably current leakage. I take it you mean series of dedicated driven earth spikes linked to the tanker delivery connection point.
I don't see any operational need for 3-phase?
