Dear All,
I have just sorted out the health & safety in a company in this country. They wish me to go to one of their offices in Dublin to do the same.
Is there any difference between our H&S law and that in the Republic?

You will find that the majority of Irish legislation is a derivitive of English legislation. The Work at Height Regs for example are almost identicle. BS and EN standards are applicable in Ireland and in the absence of applicable legislation for certain areas we would look to the equivalent standard in England.
If you sift through www.hsa.ie you will find most of what you are looking for.

You are right, Dublin is ridiculously expensive and add manic traffic and the place is best avoided. The need for H&S Professionals at the upper end of the scale is quiet good at the moment. Currently there are a lot of juniors comming out of college diluting the pool at bit. The best place outside of Dublin at the moment would be Cork, however with the postponment of the biggest project in years, Amgen- circa 3,000 construction jobs at the peak, is a big blow to the area.

A good starting point would be www.constructionjobs.ie, you would get a good idea of whats available in the various areas in the country.
