With the number of people asking me recently, I have been thinking about adding asbestos surveyor to my resume, could anyone tell me what the best way to gain competency would be.

I.e. what type of course, where at, how long and how much would it cost.

Thanks

Saira

Hi

You will looking for the P402 course, but you will need someone to take you out on accompanied surveys so you can submit 2 as part of your course. Cost - about £500. But then you need to work for someone who has the right PL/EL insurance as it will set you back a few grand.

Saira,

You need a BOHS P402 course as a minimum. However, I suggest as a very experienced asbestos trainer of surveyors that you also need at least 30 or so surveys, of a variety of different types of properties, under your belt before you're half way competent to survey on your own.
