Does anyone know where I can find information related to safety standards for fixed ladders? I would also like to talk to a reputable company in the Lancashire area about modifying an existing fixed ladder to improve systems to exclude access to unauthorised personnel. Can anyone suggest a local company that I can contact?

BS EN ISO 14122.
The document is one of a series of standards covering permanent fittings to give access to high structures including high buildings and chimneys, and plant. Others in the group are as follows:

BS 3572, Specification for access fittings for chimneys and other high structures in concrete or brickwork
BS 3678, Specification for access hooks for chimney and other high structures in steel
BS 5395-3, Stairs, ladders and walkways - Part 3: Code of practice for the design of industrial type stairs, permanent ladders and walkways
BS EN ISO 14122, Safety of machinery - Permanent means of access to machinery, particularly Part 4: Fixed ladders (2005)
