Posted By Josie Can anyone point me in the right direction on where i can obtain information detailing the full requirements and guidance of Safe T Cert and the auditing process...
I want to gain accrediation but cannot decide on whther it is going to be more beneficial to go for the Safe T Cert or just stick with HSG 65.

Go to the Construction Employers Federation Website- they have a link directly to the whole process.

Posted By Josie Many thanks guys for that... I have the CEFNI's website, but feel it is a little vague for my understanding of the background to Safe T Cert.
From my understanding to date, you can have accreditation which is equal and approved, but where does it highlight what accreditations are out there that equal the Safe T Cert? for example; is HSG 65 adequate, or does it have to be an internationally recognised management system such as ILO-OSH 2001?
Also, what do the auditors audit against?

Posted By Ciaran McAleenan Josie Safe-T-Cert is an audit product offered by CEF in NI and CIF in RoI. Initially it was based around HSG65 but I understand they use 18001 specification now. The information given on the link suggested is comprehensive but you should note the website incorrectly suggests that Safe-T-Cert is a requirement for getting public sector work. The correct position in this regard is that contractors bidding for public sector construction work need to have their H&S management system independently audited. Central Procurement Directorate are currently compiling a list of audit companies who audit to a standard acceptable to NI Public Sector There is more information on the Government website www.cpdni.gov.ukor www.hseni.gov.ukGive me a call if you need more information or you could speak to Sam McCloskey in WYG Derry office. She runs Clubs for NW based contractors. (http://www.wyg.ie/4news/pdf/Ireland_Summer2005.pdf) Best wishes Ciaran
