Hello
Quick question
Does anyone know how long should you keep fire safety training records?
Specifically NHS hospital staff who should have training once a year.
Being of a nervous disposition I'd like to keep them forever but they appear to be taking up quite a bit of space.
Any help greatly appreciated

Hi Colin,
Good question, to be honest I've never thought about how long to keep them.
We scan the signed register into the computer system and the employee has their Learning & Development portfolio (which is kept at workplace) and this has completion certificate to say that they have attended AND met the necessary requirements.
Previously the info was in their Personnel file which could get quite thick if someone worked for us for a very long time. HR have a leavers archive where the files would then go.
We don't have the same number of employees as you do so its perhaps easier?

I recommend keeping all safety/training/health records for "leaving date" plus 40 years.
Someone could retire at 65 and, at 105, sue you for hearing damage.
110 ? less likely.
