Posted By Debbie S I was listening to something on the TV yesterday regarding a clown at children's parties being banned from blowing bubbles because the floor could get wet and small children could fall over and injur themselves, so 'Health & Safety' stopped the fun - I had to smile when the TV presenter actually said that it wasn't Health & Safety gone mad but the claims culture that we live in and H&S should not be blamed for everything.
Hurrah - at last someone from the media is on our side.

Posted By Merv Newman What a brilliant guardian article ! We must all read it.
What are the consequences of eating your Y-fronts ?
Is doing up someones laces "inappropriate touching" ?
I do not have the words to go beyond "conkers"
Merv
Totally boggled and off to eat fish fingers, chips and mushy peas. Sorry if that offends any PC [reference removed].

Posted By Ken Taylor Lemonade, jelly and squashed cake can be quite slippery too - or don't they have these at parties anymore?

I'm sure an assessment was done which indicated only a small proportion would find its way onto the floor as a pose to the party goers mouth! Apparently competency of the task was not a concern...

Posted By Andrew Joule Land Recently in a shopping mall loads of marble tiles. I saw a clowns act and he had a tarpaulin spread out with an absorbent material / carpet for want of a better word laid on top making a soft area. Every one having merry japes no slips - They are not off the point

Posted By Richard Forster The Sunday Times (June 17th 2007) had this comment to make on the clown story... " Health and Safety? You're having a laugh
Clown Barney Baloney has cut a bubble-making routine from his act because insurers say it is too dangerous - anything could happen once those slippery bubbles fall to the floor. Never mind, though, because he can just add a bit of magic to his set - sawing a health and safety officer in half."
Glad they could tidy that story up then...
