What do people think of this as a way of drumming up business from a H and S consultancy/training business.

I took a cold call this morning from a training provider who had obtained my details from the HSE prosecution website following an accident in 2005.

They gave the impression that this was a regular source of 'business' for them.

Is this ambulance chasing in another way or an ethical manner to get business from a company that may need it?

Views please

Have to say its not one I would use for our business, however I think some naivety on behalf of the caller has come through. If (and as I say its a hypothetical if) I had done got your details that way I certainly would not tell you!

Blimey what an approach. Given that the data on the HSE website is usually a couple of years old it seems a bit short sighted to phone a company up in this way as it is implying that the company hasn't learnt anything since the accident or taken any action to correct things!

Not a good way to drum up business

I have to agree with John.

Ethically, there is nothing wrong, it makes sense to start with those who appear there - obviously something was inadequate, and training may be able to help.

Business reputation would surely suffer - as would client/vendor relationship balance I think.
