Could anyone please provide some pointers with regards to what to actions to take when uncovering asbetos debris on a brownfield development. I have the following queries:

1. Any relevant legislation
2. Methods to clean / remove land contaminated with asbestos
3. Any companies that have experience of this

You might find the document ICRCL 64-85 Asbestos on contaminated sites (2nd edition 1990) a useful starting point. It's obviously a little dated but may serve as a framework for what you will need to do.

(I hope this doesn't duplicate assistance you receive from other responses)
