Posted By Andrew Meiklejohn Hi Guys n Gals
Hopefully this won't be drab! Currently am making a move on the number of lacerations on site and the use of stanley knives to cut GRP, formica, and flooring materials seems to be remaining an issue.
The main issue is that due to nature of the work mainly final finishing on vehicles it has to be done in situ.
A list of thoughts I have so far are
get better products from manufactuer. do not do work on location. alternative methods of cutting to size use of safety kives ppe
Any thoughts welcome
Andrew

Posted By mrs.seed make sure tools are sharp and maintained (probably just changing blades regularly) this helps stop slipping.

Posted By Tabs At most of the safety exhibitions, there seems to be at least one person trying to cut themselves with safety knives - get in touch with them (Google) to come and look at the application.

We use Martor-Profi knives. The blades retract due to spring loading when not in use. Also issue Kevlar cut-resistant gloves which have to be worn when using the knives. Not received any reports about sustained cuts since.

Posted By Martin Taylor Cut level 4 gloves are now readily available with very high dexterity - there no such thing as a safeyt knife - only safer ones
