Posted By Mark Elliott A local council H&S officer has asked for managers (who are not trained in health and safety) of a furniture retailer and warehouse to undertake formal monitoring of staff, does anyone carry out formal monitoring if so how what type of monitoring do you carry out?
Many thanks

Posted By Mark Elliott Sorry that would have helped, "Devise and implement procedures for formal monitoring of employees to ensure they are using preventative and proactive control measures"

Posted By Ron Hunter Sounds like supervision to me? The word 'formal' is usually construed as writing things down, which on the face of it sounds daft, however a quarterly workplace inspection tour (there are several available via Google)could include 'behaviours' as well as the more traditional 'hazard spotting'. Have to say though, that the whole thing sounds like a bit of a "jobsworth" approach. Why not contact the individual and ask him/her to tell you what they mean?
