Firm I am working for undertakes on a regular basis small to medium size construction projects.

Refurbishing of warehouses, erection of chill rooms and associated facilities being the main type of work.

I was considering going on the smsts course as I thought this would be an ideal course that would fit this type of project in as much as it provides a suitable paper qualification.

Considered NEBOSH Construction but think this is a lot of money and time.

Any one done the course and able to give me some feed back.

Thanks

The SMSTS Five Day Course is designed for people who work in the Construction Industry and is regarded as being as the same level as the IOSH Managing Safely Course. As such it will as you put it provide you with a `paper qualification’ that some employers might consider adequate for a particular role. This is probably a Level 2 QCA Award.

On the Cost front it is likely to cost you around the £575.00 mark for five days tuition including the final exam. Yes I know that other people will say I can get it cheaper but use this figure as a bench mark – a google search will allow you to establish that this figure is probably a reasonable average.

Now with a NEBOSH Construction Certificate Course (Higher level of Qualification- QCA Level 3) the course is generally run over a 15 day period. The cost for this course is likely to be around the £1800 mark.

You can do the maths and see that perhaps cost should not be the major concern, Sometimes you have to look at what you actually want from a course.

BTW I deliver both courses and so I have no axe to grind either way.
