Posted By Aggi Katniak Hi On Monday this week (02/07) our employee fell off a chair. An accident report was filed. He went home complaining of shoulder pain and took the rest of the day, Tuesday (03/07) and Wednesday (04/07)off sick. He returned yesterday (05/07)but then went home again complaining of stiffness in his shoulder. Would this need to be reported under RIDDOR as more than 3 working days have been lost due to an accident at work? Any help appreciated. Aggi Katniak

Posted By Gff also you don't count the day of the injury as one of the days So in this case he went off part day yesterday you don't count it if they are off today and then again on Monday then it is reportable if they are unable to carry out duties reasonably expected due to their injuries because you count weekends regardless of if they would normally work them.

Posted By Bill Collins Yeah but, he doesnt have to actually be off work.. just incapacitated from work that he would normally be expected to do. Since from the description given, this has been the case, albeit in a combination of actual absence, a failed attempt to return and then going off again, it could well be reportable.
