We currently reimburse our employees when they have an eye test. We don't really publicise it to our employees. We are looking at our eyecare policy and are considering offering some additional support and highlighting this as an employee benefit.
I would be interested to hear your thoughts and experiences about whether there is any value in going further than just reimbursement/compliance? Do employees really care and are there any real business benefits in doing this?
Thanks
Vicky

If they work with DSE and classed as "users", the eyetest is an entitlement not a benefit. So will the "basic" pair of spectacles that you have to provide if required for DSE work.
However, if the intent is to allow everyone regardless of the DSE regs requirements an eyetest, unless you live in Scotland where they are free, you may have a benefit in kind tax liability.

We highlighted this to all employees in my last company (over 3500 staff).
They asked for a test - Why? was the response.
Just thought I'd have one.
Got any problems with working with DSE?
No!
Then why a test? When explained the majority said dont bother then but were still we paid if they wanted to go.
The uptake is ususally quite small and the people who need corrective lenses after this is also minimal.
Go ahead and do it you will not have 1000's of people wanting tests.
A local Higstreet opticians are doing these really cheap I think its £20 for test AND the glasses.
