Posted By John Lawlor Hi All our insurance company wants us to take out third party motor insurance on our forklifts, the flt's are 99% of the time indoors and not in use, on occasion they are outside (not on a public highway) taking in a delivery or inside moving stuff, we have trained operators using them but they say our employers liability insurance does not cover them, has any one experience with this kind of thing and is it necessary to have them insured as the public have no access to the factory floor. And supposedly the employees would be covered under the employers liability.

Posted By Sean Woodcock Just a thought but third party motor insurance is only required because of the road traffic act 1988. As your flt's are only operated on private land then there is no legal requirement. Your company employee liability insurance should cover any damage to your other employee's or property.
