I am prompted to write this comment by an article in the Daily Mail letters section (July 18th).

The author of the letter expresses her concerns about the way in which aircraft land at Stansted and deposit their passengers into the terminal. She cites the fact that the terminal cannot cope with the volume of passengers arriving at a given moment in time. To quote the author of the letter "..it is unsafe to have so many people jammed into a confined space, and it is especially awful for the elderly and small children"..

I can subscribe to this lady's concerns.

I too recently landed at Stansted. My fellow passengers and I were herded into the terminal, and steward had to squeeze people into the crammed reception area in order to ensure that everyone was inside the building.
I was required to stand on a static escalator for 22 minutes, unable to go up or down. When I did move, I was disturbed to see more arriving passengers being corralled in behind me..

On June 11th, I despatched a strongly worded letter to the Safety Manager at Stansted and to Sir Malcolm Field (CAA Chairman - Safety Regulations Group).

Sadly, I have yet to receive a response from either.

Colleagues, can anyone inform me who else I might write to, in order to highlight this significant safety issue?

As the lady who wrote the letter to the Mail cites, "I can forsee riots occurring in the future if Stansted doesn't get its act together.."
