Hi all,
I could do with some help on this one.....
I have recently completed my IOSH Managing Safely Course, and recieved an invoice from the company who had taken me through this unfortunatly they have amended the price to a higher amount, i have contacted the company who have advised me that i either pay this price or just forget about it completely which i will not accept to just forget about it as i spent along time doing this course in both work time and my own personal time, what could i do regarding this situation.

Have you got a quote or a price in writing before you commenced the course with terms and conditions?

A few of questions if I may?
Firstly, did you not have an initial confirmation letter to state the fixed price of the IOSH MS course?
If there is some unprofessional behaviour being alleged, then you will need to privately contact the course originators for further advice and to allow perhaps an investigation into the course provider, you may find the contacts links on this page helpful.
Finally, as the course is a 5 day course, you mention the time it has taken to complete the MS course, or have you taken it from an alternative provision other than over a 2/3 week period? with a 2-2-1 split?
Please do not under any circumstance provide the company detailing here on the forum.

Hi unfortunatly there was no letter to confirm the price which causes the big problem, the course was taken over so many weeks basically 1 day per week.

If you have no price in writing prior to the course commencing and no terms and conditions then i would say that you will have to pay the price increase.

Check if the prices you were quoted are advertised elsewhere e.g. website, marketing blurb etc. Any challenges formed on this basis should be considered reasonable.

Looks like it the only problem is my MD doesnt agree with this aparently this company never sends out T's & C's or letters confirmin the price all they do is discuss the cost over the phone, the way things are looking my MD wont pay and i will be stuck with all my course work and without my Certificate which i have been advised has been marked and passed but not yet checked via IOSH :(

Just a thought.
If you placed an official order with this company what do your T & C’s say?
Did you put a price on your order?
May be something worth pursuing.

I don't understand why you are doing this publicly without first talking to IOSH? They do the licensing, and should be the second port of call if you are not getting any joy from the supplier.
Naming the company could get you into legal bother if you don't have a solid case against them.

IOSH do not have any control over the fees that course providers charge for their safety awareness courses. As a previous responder has already stated it is always the course of wisdom to have something in writing stating the course providers fees,cancellation terms etc. However, since the company involved is an approved IOSH course provider I am concerned and I would appreciate you e-mailing me at david.haynes@iosh.co.uk with the course provider details in order for me to investigate further

Have you asked the training organisation why their invoice is greater than discussed.
It is possible that they quoted you their tutoring fees but it was not made clear that there are other charges associated with the course (e.g Registration and certification Fees)some of which may be charged by the accrediting body.

Martyn,when I was doing some research into these courses I never found one which didnt list all their charges and what was and what wasnt included.
If I was David I would contact IOSH direct to if anyone else has had similar problems with the provider,

I agreed and apologised.
I then had a laugh because it was Friday blaming it on my Scottish upbringing sorry that whooshed you but that's life.
For Seano I speak Jockanese because you do not need a CSCS card to get on a construction site.
