Posted By KevinD Hello all and particualrly those who've undertook or are undertaking IPD. Is it just me who feels the IPD process is a bit OTT (12 mini essays 600 words each) in addition to CPD, an eventual interview (and a fifteen minute presentation) with a peer panel, a day job and a life. Please say it isn't!
I'm finding the process very frustrating/laborious/generally difficult. A guidance document to explain the guidance document would be beneficial, particularly in trying to undersand the the examples given for some of the activities. Maybe NVQ students would have the advantage here as it is seems IOSH have replicated the complicated evidence gathering criteria of the NVQ.
Anyway, no particular point to this post other than a tired rant though it would be nice if somebody could reassure me it will all be worth it and there is some point to this in the long run. Regards,

'process flow charts' are all that is needed and I have suggested this on many occasions
the problem appears to be that those involved in the design process of the various computer programs / systems used by our 'body' do not involve enough competent professionals from other disciplines in the design process
when working with computer programmers and marketing buffs on a big project a few years ago a large and complicated programme / portfolio was reduced to a two sided single and simple piece of paper which covered all areas in a very understandable way, by a chemical process engineer in less than a day
Luckily the MD saw the light and pushed the others to use the process engineers system to base their designs on - all worked well and we saved money and tine as well - however the various 'buffs' were put out because a 'simple' engineer was the lead player
