The polling board, walling and struts shall have a minimum cross-section as mentioned hereunder:
Item Minimum Cross-section Polling board = 200mm x 50mm, (8" x 2")
Walling = 150mm x 50mm (6" x 2")
Struts = 100mm x 50 mm (4" x 2").
Can any one tell me what is the source/ standard for this requirement?

BS6031, 1981, Code of Practice for Earthworks mentions poling boards several times.
A quick scan through the document suggests that it only mentions typical sizes of board and does not specify to this degree.

Ajay,
there are no Regulations or Approved Codes of Practice that I am aware of that state the minimum size of trench supports etc.
Trench support depends on a number of factors e.g. the depth of the excavation, the type of material being excavated, the moisture content of the material, the position of the water table, width of excavation, proximity of other structures and roads, the materials being used to construct the trench support etc.
It sounds like someone has simply picked a number of sizes at random. Ask whoever specified these sizes to state where they obtained these dimensions.

Just for your interest only Ajay- in the UK it would be tough to find a way that was acceptable to the HSE to install timber without the worker being in an unsafe area while it is being installed
