Posted By Martin Taylor What do we all do for induction training?
I am concerned that the package I am delivering is not strong enough to make a change to behaviours.
What we do at the present is a start day walk about by the line leader supported by a 20 minute DVD covering site hazards.
This is followed by a 2 hour general H and S presentation by myself and a 2 hour manual handling program within the first month.
How does this compare with other companies and what do we consider 'best practice' to be?

Posted By Simon Walsh Grad IOSH Would any sort of induction really change behaviours? If ways of working have been adopted in past employment poor working techniques are bound to be brought to the new employer.
A change in behaviours relies upon embarking on a process of developing a culture where dangerous actions and conditions are identified and challenged.
An initial induction course is only the start of a long process.
