Hi, could anyone help, i am currently working with our lease providers to "Green" our company car fleet, at the moment employees have the option of a company car or Cash allowance, the company cars can be easily improved for their environmental performance, unfortunately the cash takers pose a problem, whilst we cant remove the cash option we wish to distribute a questionnaire finding out why they chose this option as opposed to selecting a company car, has anyone done this type of exercise before, and if so could they share their questionnaire with me
Thanks

I can't comment on your particular workforce, but I can say from my own experience that having had company cars previously I would never go back to having one.

If you take the cash option, it increases annually with your salary and improves your pension contribution.

As I did not go for a brand new vehicle, I money I saved in Tax actually paid for the purchase, Road Tax, Insurance & Servicing.
(my secondhand car, a original SAAB 900, was actually greener than any of the company choices!)

The cash allowance then became completely 'cash in hand'.

One of the best ways to improve the environmental impact of your fleet is NOT to replace them every 2 or 3 years!
Unfortunately that is one of the biggest reasons people want a company car, so they can show off that they've got the newest car!!!

Reliant Robins or Trabbis should be the only offered company car. Not exactly green however.

mileage allowances for those that do not choose the above should be based on BHP (as low as possible), Prius type cars, catalytic exhausts, accident record, personal insurance premium, points, current MOT and so on.

One size-fits-all doesn't

My sales force gets a standard allowance. Based on Minis. You wanna drive a BMW on company business ? Go on then.

Um. Except that I drive a company owned rover 75. All expenses paid.
