With regard to preparing these in educational establishments....
A significant number of children requiring assistance are on the first floor, the amount of staff to take evac chairs or wheelchairs down stairs are limited. There is no suitable emergency lift.
Some staff have raised concerns that they would have to carry out multiple stair journeys to evacuate everybody and as a result some of the smaller children have been identified for carrying down stairs by staff with suitable manual handling training.
Is this acceptable? Is there any good specific guidance on this?
Help much appreciated.
