After reading the last threads on this topic i asked some friend what happens on sites they use and was suprised to hear that when these cherry pickers ect are used they are informed that they should clip on above them to girders ect when inside buildings. I would have thought these structures (mewp) would be safe and the need to clip on above would not be required

I am aware of this practice and for routine work I won't permit it, it is all to easy for an operator to forget his mate is attached and, well, the rest is obvious, worse still with a twin tail system.

There are occasions when 'access' to an area is only available by appropriate MEWP, usually boom,(steel frame with nets and no lift) and on this basis I will permit it, subject to satisfaction of the overall SSOW.
