Flammability of Heavy Naphthenic Petroleum Oil
Rank: Guest
|
Posted By Kevin Fitzgerald Hi All,
I have machinery that uses a lubricant containing 50-70% naphthenic petroleum oil. Oil residues are extracted together with small quantities of pure oxygen which is used in the process. Heat is generated.
I am wondering is there a flammability risk here during extraction of potentially hot oil residues in an oxygen rich environment? How should I go about determining the potential for a fire? The flash point of the lubricant is 105degC.
Thanks in advance, Kevin.

The flashpoint will assume a normal atmosphere; if oxygen-enriched, the fire risk will be increased.
