Posted By Kevin Thompson Can anyone point me to guidance for ensuring potable water stored in a tank remains safe for drinking. The water for example might be piped into a boat, barge, train etc and made available for public consumption. What sterilisation is required of the bowser, supply lines and tanks and what testing is required?
Many thanks

Posted By Chris Packham Have you thought of speaking to your local water board. They will almost certainly be able to advise you.

Posted By Roderick Glen The correct people to ask would be the Environmental Health Office at your district council. This sort of supply is probably covered by the Private Water Supply regulations.

Posted By Blaise You could try you local water company. It's hard to contact the water boards as they haven't existed since 1974.

Posted By Kevin Thompson Many thanks for your help. I think the manual should provide some useful info, but I am surprised that there isn't a BS or EN standard that covers the issue.
