I believe you will find that your local fire and rescue service will not accept checklists as a fire risk assessment as they are not descriptive enough.You should use them as an aide memoir in helpping you to write the fire risk assessment. For instance
Question Is there combustible material in the area
Answer Yes

What is the control measure ?????
What is the further required action

You get my point????????

The purpose of these documents are to evaluate the risk of fire in your building. The incidence of fire in office accommodation is small however the chance of a fire occurring is increased by poor housekeeping e.g. wedging of fire doors, misuse of toasters etc.

Checklists are OK if it is intended just to assist in completing your fire risk assessment. Checklists by themselves are unlikely to fulfil the requirements of section 9(7) of the RRO.

I have sent you the Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue Service Risk Assessment form, along with their guide on how to use it. Fire Inspectors who have seen assessments completed, using this Format, have been very complimentary. It may look a bit daunting at first, as it is intended to cover all sorts of premises, but well worth the effort.
