Posted By Heathrow Hi can anyone please help. I feel our electrical contractor is not up to scratch, the boss however thinks otherwise. Cos hes cheap ! However the only documentation he can provide is part P - domestic installer. I have always in the past asked for NICEIC or NAPIT registration, but I need some killer facts for this arguement. Please help !!!!

I recommend you speak immediately with your current under writers and ask in the event of a claim resulting from works carried out by a non commercial electrician who is probably not to the 16th edition or NICEIC and almost certainly not qualified to undertake work in a commercial situation what their view on a claim would be.
You know as well as I do that they won't cover you, and if your boss wishes to proceed in this manner with a potentially void insurance cover and as a further consequence the activities cause harm to person you can see where this can lead to.
I have a few lads currently at college working alongside qualified chaps, once they complete their course they will become certificated, my contractor will not let them work alone until they have completed a 12 month mentoring process after completing college.
Try the Insurance argument .
Good luck
