Hello,

Could someone provide me with any information on managing contraband (ie. searching people and belongings). Specifically in the Health Care industry and individuals in Emerg and Mental Health?

Thanks,

Brett.

If you are talking in terms of illegal substances/materials then you must involve the police or you may become part of any offence.

Otherwise the substances/materials still technically belong to the individual and must be returned in the state it was confiscated once they leave the premises.

There was a case a few years ago involving a rehabilitation centre where the staff were accused of conspiracy in a similar situation.

Hello Bob,

Thankyou for your response. Do you have any further information regarding the rehabilitation center case or any other relevant case law.

Thanks,

Brett.
