I probably know the answer to this already but would appreciate any comments from members.

We purchase syringes and re-pack them into smaller quantities which are then shipped to field staff and customers (internationally). The supplier includes a safety information sheet in the bulk packs but I believe that following re-packing, this information is not included. Bearing in mind the end-users are conversant in good laboratory practices and the application requirements of the syringes, should the information be provided?

AKM, this is about liability risk control, not prevention of harm.

Sadly my advice is to include safety advice on each of your packs, even though you expect the end users to be fully conversant with good practice on handling syringes. One of the examples of fear of litigation having to drive management controls.

In the event of an incident with one of your syringes that causes harm it may be alleged that the user was not informed about the risks, leaving you open to an accusation of negligence and being successfully sued.

Your products liability insurer will expect that you are providing appropriate safety information with each of your products. If you don't they may decide that you have not taken reasonable precautions to prevent claims, making any payment from them very difficult to pursue.
