Does any one know of a knife that instead of the blade retracting the guard does, as we have employees cutting carpet and the knives which the blades retract when pressure is released are more of a hazard.

Yes you could try the 800L safety knife which is in the new arco book. I have some on site and they are pretty good and you can set the guard depth or lock it. The item number is 5517105 be careful they come ina box of six, maybe worth ansking for a sample first and make sure you get plenty of discount.
