Of course contractors need to be advised re the fire procedure, this will be during the induction training for all site operatives.
Visitors can be briefly advised of the procedure but I should expect visitors to be accompanied at all times when just visiting a site.
All personnel should enter their details in the site register which will become the fire register in case of an alarm and evacuation. It also helps if the register is located near to a fire procedure notice which can be read at the time of signing in.

Posted By JEB The control of contractors is vital, contractors are the cause of more fires in industry that any other group. You must have procedures in place for Hot Work etc.
