anyway - we need to remove some old chemical storage tanks - anyone got a protocol/risk assessment that could get me started? or any experience/anecdotes?

I looked on the HSE web site but cant seem to find CS15?

You have several options depending on the size and type of tank, and what you want to do with it (re-use,scrap,sell etc.). Any method will require you to ensure that any "bottoms" of product are removed, the tank may then be temporarily gas inerted, water filled or inert foam filled to allow cutting up. Big tanks are usually purged with forced air. Competent monitoring and permit systems for any dismantling or cutting!! In the good old days on petrol forecourt underground tanks, they used to be filled with a concrete slurry.
