Hi Folks,

We have a new gantry crane that will be going into service for the first time in the next 4 weeks. This crane was installed on site approx 18 months ago for a new piece of equipt and was fully examined at this point. I'm just wondering if the 1st examination is still valid after this period of non use? I have read through LOLER and feel it will require another thorough examination as Reg.9(1)(B) 'in the case of lifting equipment for which an EC declaration of conformity could or (in the case of a declaration under the Lifts Regulations 1997) should have been drawn up, the employer has received such declaration made not more than 12 months before the lifting equipment is put into service'

Any advise would be great!
