Posted By Paul L Williams Dear fellow practitioners.
We have a number of plastic pallets on site made from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) with a curved bottom for supporting reels of material. These are great as they don't need to have wooden chocks nailed into them to stop the material rolling off whilst being transported and you don't get splinters either. Anyway the problem is that in an ignition test these type of plastic pallets will catch fire that in less than 30 seconds with a cigarette lighter, and that once alight, a single plastic pallet sustained fire growth which spread laterally consuming the pallet and forming a pool fire. Obviously our insurers don't like them and I have search the Internet to see if anyone manufactures plastic pallets with a fire retardant ingredient. I have yest to find any and was wondering if anyone out there knows of such a pallet.
Kind regards
Paul

Posted By Stefan Daunt I worked at Exel/ Dhl who used plastic pallets in quite large numbers. I can't remember who the supplier was other than French, but if you ring 01664 410132 and ask for the operations manager I am sure he will inform you.
