Does anyone have a simple method for staff to record usage of vibrating equipment. And do you use it as a daily check or a sample over a specified period of time. I am stuck whether to record daily or sample a different team every month.
Any help would be great.

It has been shown that staff recollection of actual 'trigger time' can be in error by up to a factor of ten. There are available timers which count only when the tool is being switched on. These are available for airfed, 110volt and 240volt equipment.

I would get the user or their supervisor to record daily "trigger tiime". Don't forget to factor in the actual time on the job, not on breaks etc.

The use of a recording device sounds a very good bet.

At the end of the day you need good data

- to demonstrate compliance with regs
- to refute any future compo claims (this will also reassure your insurers)
