Just wondering if anyone knew of a requirement either H&S or Building Regs that state that there must be 2 sets of doors where 2 buildings meet. There is a small corridor connecting the factory to our canteen with 2 sets of double doors at each end of corridor. The 2nd set of doors opens inwards and against the flow of traffic as this is also a fire exit route. Opening the doors the other way could be a hazard onto the canteen area.
I'm wondering if its possible to remove these doors so there is only one set to access- would this an issue?

Cheers, Gav

Would there be a contamination issue with the food area if doors were removed?

No, it leads into the main eating area, the food preparation is done within the kitchen area. There is also still a double door remaining between factory and canteen if we took the other ste out.

GavinR,

If you remove either set of doors do you access from the factory immediately into the canteen and vice versa. Is there and escape route from the corridor to fresh air where you can move away unrestrained from the building.
Is there an alternative way out from the canteen. What is the risk factor in the factory?

Regards
