Posted By Mark Fisher I have a bit of a dilema I am trying to solve concerning one of the engineering staff working for my Company. My Company installs CCTV and Communications Equipment. This staff member prior to being employed by the Company received a hand injury. The employee has always done this sort of installation work, previous employers not providing any sort of protective wear. The injury was caused by crushing and involves the ring finger of his left hand, the finger is a lot larger than normal it being approximately twice as large (Imagine your middle and index fingers glued together. He is in his mid forties and 'probably due to the length of time it's been non-protected, is saying that he is having trouble with it; Soreness, weeping, redness. Ideally I would provide him with gloves like the rest of the staff (which are issued with Rigger Gloves and a General Purpose Nitrile/ Knitted Glove)but they obviously won't fit. Does anyone have a contact that could produce custom safety gloves? I can provide photos and measurements if reguired
Thanks
Mark

You state that the injury was caused by crushing. Neither riggers nor nitrile gloves will provide protection against this type of injury, so presumably you are providing gloves for some other purposes.
As someone much involved with gloves I do not know of any manufacturer who would produce a glove to a specific pattern in the quantity that you would require. If anyone did then the cost would be phenomenal.
However, gloves are always a last resort, with other "technical" measures to be introduced first. Without knowing more about the reasons for the gloves I cannot be specific but if you would like to contact me direct, perhaps I can provide you with some guidance. (01386 832 311)
Regards Chris
