Posted By David Matthew Could anyone suggest golves suitable for diesel fitters to wear? Having spoken to our fitters they claim that all the gloves they have ever tried make their hands sweat so they don't wear them. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
regards,
David

Any occlusive glove will cause an increase in moisture within the glove. This is not necessarily sweat but what will include what is called trans-epidermal water loss, the invisible loss of water across the skin.
The only way you can counter this is by the wearer wearing separate cotton gloves underneath the outer glove. Studies have shown that provided these are changed from time to time they have a significant effect on the hyperhydration that would otherwise occur.
If dexterity is then an issue, this can be restored by simply removing about 1 cm of the tip of each of the fingers of the cotton glove. The cotton gloves may need to be changed several times each day, but can be rinsed, dried and reused to keep costs reasonable.
In fact, hyperhydration can actually cause irritant contact dermatitis by itself, such that in Germany there is a special regulation applying when occlusive gloves are worn for extended periods.
Incidentally, the glove material you need for diesel is nitrile.
