Dear All,
I have been asked to advise what the Companies Act 2006 will mean to my Company in Practical terms. Aparently from Oct 07, additional sections came into force - which includes a statutory stement of Director's duties setting out the duties and responsibilities of Directors, for example promoting the long term success of the company, while considering factors such as th environment, community and employees. I have looked at the Act on the Internet and there are 700 pages of it. Can anyone advise where I can obtain practical guidance relating to this section of the act which is being implemented this month? Is it included within INDG 343? If we already have a safety policy and three year strategies for health and safety, environment and energy would this cover us or does a specific format have to be followed. Has guidance ben published yet?
Any help would be much apreciated!
Thank you and best regards,Kelly Holifield.

Hi,
I would say that some elements are definitely related to H&S/Corporate responsibility e.g Director's statements, however some sections refer to requirements such as ensuring the relevant corporate information is shown on all documents, emails etc. I'm not sure how I'm going to tackle this, but feel that perhaps a focus group needs to be set up with members from all departments concerned so that workload is shared and all aspects covered.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,

I to would like some information on this subject. I've checked the HSE website and the other sites listed on this post but can't find anything new relating to health and safety.

I would suggest you google the Turnbull report and the associated code - the material will prove useful in the interpretation of some of these terms.
The reporting requirements do include H&S but the actual detail required is actually fairly minimal.
