Posted By Bob Wolstenholme Our Fitters currently use dust sheets to cover stairs in residential properties, the sheets are secured by using spring loaded poles on each tread which tuck neatly into the corners, leaving the treads free from obstruction.
It has been suggested that instead of using dustsheets we should use semi-adhesive plastic film. Has anyone used this film and dustsheets, if so does the film reduce slips/trips.
Risk assessments identify different hazards, such as dustsheets can gather causing a trip hazard and plastic film when wet can cause slips etc.....
I need to hear from anyone who has used both.
Dare I mention the word "cost", the dust sheets can be used over and over again where as the plastic film can only be used once. It goes without saying that if there is evidence that by using film it reduces accidents/incidents then cost will not be an issue.
