Posted By Nick Wilkinson we have an operation where we use chains to lift and sling a pair of dies from one area to another. During this process we occasionally need to roll the dies over using lifting chains. This is not a recommended practice but does anyone have any best practice ideas that we can incorporate for future use? Posted By Nick Wilkinson Our dies are fairly large John and it is not possible to use more than one crane. Total load is about 4 ton using a SWL of 10 ton ctrane. Presently we use a system where we side load "slowly and using experienced crane operators" to tilt and then roll the dies over. I have seen many Factories/Forges using the same technique some better than others but to date none have shown me a better way of managing this operation. Some roll dies on to wooden surfaces whilst others turn them over in sand pits. But again none have eliminated the side load issue. Nick

Posted By Nick Wilkinson John, i am fairly new to this forum. Where do I look for this video? or have you posted it to my works e-mail address? not sure the use of air bags is a goer as the dies are very hot! but if the video gives us any ideas that would be a good place to start. thanks, nick
