Hi Guys, Just a quickie have been picked up on an operational inspection for having the information sign on the back of doors in black and white...just photocopied it and encapsulated it.
The one I mean is A4 size
and says
If you discover fire sound the alarm call out the fire brigade fight the fire but do not endanger yourself or others
If you hear the alarm Leave building Close all doors Do not collect belongings Do not use lifts.
Does this sign need to be coloured or will, as long as it is very clear and visible, black and white suffice.
I did pick up a link from one of the fire brigades stating that other signs may be used as long as they are clear and can be understood by all.
Cheers
Ged

Posted By Martin Taylor My call would be that this sign includes both mandatory and prohibition instructions so the standard blue and red colours should be used.
It could be printed on a colour printer (good quality) and laminated if cost is an issue but these standard ones are readily available form many sources for modest cost

Posted By LJ Ged, It is not considered good practice to display signs on backs of doors, display the sign as near to the exit as possible, ensure that it can not be obscured by other items. All safety signs should conform to the the The health & safety ( Safety Signs & Signals)Regulations 1996 For further info try this link, look at the para on Fire safety signs http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg184.htmregards LJ

Posted By pat merchant you van get most mand and fire signs from a website called online sign. this is a free site and you can print in various sizes. they all conform to legislation in text and pictogram. they are handy for adding some of you own text if needed. pat
